237 Laundry Room

Yes, it is yellow. Very yellow. Sunshine glowing yellow.  It is also the first room that is closest to being finished. It is not by chance that this room was the first to be painted. Order is beginning to return to the house.

233 Sam the Photographer

I am always delighted to bring my camera for Sam to use. Today was Christian's 13th birthday party and Sam was happy to use the E-300 to take pictures of all the guests. Here's Sam setting up the shot of all the kids who came to the party.

Since it is hard for me to have only one shot when I shoot with Sam, here's Sam taking a picture.

232 New Dining Room Wall

The spackling is complete and the plastic wall in the dining room came down. Anxious to have some semblance order in the house I primed and painted the dining room wall. The big change was the cutting out of the dining room wall to open the basement to the rest of the house. The wall is not totally finished as there will be a railing added and the trim work hasn't been completed. Still, I am ever so happy the plastic is down and we can walk through the room without walking around plastic.

229 Options

Rich thought this looked like modern art. It is my work and it's the samples of paint for the family room in the basement worked between the unsanded spackle

226 Spring is Coming!

This seedling is poking up in the front garden. Not sure what it is until it gets bigger and blooms.

225 St. Lawrence Cooked

According to the legend, Saint Lawrence was martyred when he was tied on top of an iron grill over a slow fire that roasted his flesh little by little.  However Lawrence was burning with so much love of God that he almost did not feel the flames. In fact, God gave him so much and joy that he even joked. "Turn me over. I'm done on this side!" and just before he died, he said, "It's cooked enough now.

There is joy in the Lord and there is the Joy of Cooking.

217 Chaos Ensues

Since Thanksgiving the renovation work kept to it's place in the basement. Until today. The kitchen was never a part of the project, that will be saved for another day. But we decided to open the dining room to the stairwell and remove a short wall between the kitchen and dining room at the top of the stairs. Today that work began with the kitchen shrouded  in plastic to keep the dust down.

We're eating out for dinner tonight.

212 Choices

The walls are still studs and drywall won't be completed for a couple of weeks, but I'm starting to think about painting and choosing colors. One for the bedroom, one for the family room and hall, probably something similar in the bath, yellow and white with a splash of red for the laundry.
